• Can I email you after my website launches (and is there a charge)?

    Absolutely, you can email us! In fact, we hope you do.

    Our job is not only to help you launch your website but to help get you prepared to use that site. Of course, we recommend you do what you can (practice isn’t a four-letter word) but if you find yourself looking for something—or trying to figure something out—for longer than 1/2hr, please reach out.

    We are here to help you! And no, we don’t charge for a quick emailed question.

  • Can I update my own site?

    Yes, absolutely and unequivocally, yes.

    In fact, we actually recommend it. Everyone should be comfortable enough to run updates but there are a few things we recommend checking before you do so.

  • Can you help me with setting up ads on my website?

    Alas, no. We made a decision a long, long time ago to stay away from all things commerce and we’ve stuck to our guns. Sorry!

  • Can you help me with web security?

    The answer here is both yes—and no. We can help but only up to a point. Most of your security is going to come from making sure your site is up to date (check out our recommended link below) and from your web hosting company. Having a recent backup of your site is definitely something to keep around (we recommend at least a monthly backup—weekly if you’re posting frequently).

    If you’re really worried about your site getting hacked, we can install a plugin to help you keep an eye on the WordPress side of things.  Check out the recommended links at the bottom for our choice in security plugins.

    Fine print: Because nothing is ever 100% fool-proof, we cannot guarantee that by installing any recommended software or plugin your site will stay safe from hackers. kikaDESIGN cannot and will not be held liable if something does happen to your site.

  • What is “My Portal”?

    “My Portal” is a new feature from kikaDESIGN. It will allow us to move away from using the inbox for communication and, instead, utilize one central area for everything from website questionnaires to mockup approval.

    “My Portal” will be available to all kD clients up to 90 days after their website has launched.

  • Who owns my site?

    We’re taking this one right out of the kikaDESIGN contract, so it might look a little familiar:

    You own the graphics and other visual elements that we create for you for this project.

    You also own text content, photographs and other data you provided, unless someone else owns them. We own the XHTML markup, CSS and other code and we license it to you for use on only this project. 

    We love to show off our work and share what we have learned with other people, so we also reserve the right to display and link to your completed project as part of our portfolio and to write about the project on web sites, in magazine articles and in books about web design.
