SECTIONS OF WORDPRESS YOU SHOULD REALLY GET TO KNOW
Posts—Blog Posts
Media—Where all the images you upload to the site are “housed” (ie. this is where you can upload/view images to your site for later use)
Pages—Text that is not found under one of the previous navigation tabs. These pages are easily determined by their names—the names listed match the names used on the website
Appearance
Widgets—This will allow you to add/delete/adjust items to the sidebar(s) of your pages
Menus—This will allow you to add/delete/adjust items to the website menu
ADDITIONAL SECTIONS YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF BUT NOT UTILIZE UNLESS YOU ARE AT A MODERATE TO HIGH LEVEL OF COMFORT WITHIN WORDPRESS
Appearance
Themes—This will allow you to change the theme (aka the entire look and structure) of your site
Customize—This will allow you to edit colors as well as general information about the site
Plugins—This allows you to see what plugins are being used on the website. Plugins allow us to create additional functionality on the website to aid in various aspects of design and functionality. Please note: You will have access to turn on/off plugins as well as add new plugins. It is important to be aware that changing/adding plugins can affect the overall appearance of your site, the functionality of your site, and/or create a conflict with the plugins currently in use. We recommend you do not delete any plugins without first consulting us. We also recommend making sure you have a recent backup of your site.
Users—This will allow you to add/delete/adjust users with access to your website. While it is your choice, it is recommended that you keep kikaDESIGN as an administrator so that, in the event of any issues, we have easy access to login and troubleshoot.
You’ll notice that there are several additional navigation tabs along the left side that do not have any information provided. This is because we recommend that you do not alter or go into these settings without having a HIGH level of comfort within WordPress. These are general website setup items as well as overall appearance. Adjusting these items has the potential to significantly change the operation as well as appearance of the website.
